Guwahati: Based on the current projections in view of the trend so far, the NDA is poised to secure a majority in the anchalik panchayats and zila parishads, signalling a decisive electoral mandate in the panchayat polls, said BJP's state president Dilip Saikia.

He added that the trends as of now indicate a commanding lead for the candidates of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) across the state. Saikia, who is also a parliamentarian from the state, described the groundswell of public support for the NDA as "extraordinary and unprecedented."

He attributed the alliance's strong performance to the transformative governance under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Sarma. He said the people of Assam once again reposed their faith in the BJP-led coalition to sustain the momentum of inclusive and broad-based development across the state.

The state president acknowledged the pivotal role played by senior party figures, including CM Sarma, Union ministers Sarbananda Sonowal, and Pabitra Margherita, and allied party leaders and dedicated grassroots workers. "Their collective effort," he noted, "has contributed significantly in consolidating the alliance's electoral base in rural Assam," he added.

Expressing heartfelt gratitude to the electorate, Saikia thanked voters for their overwhelming support, which, he noted, transcended political affiliations. He called the mandate a clear endorsement of the alliance's vision to strengthen grassroots democracy and accelerate rural progress. Reaffirming the BJP's commitment to the ‘panchayati raj' system, he assured that every promise made in the party's Sankalp Patra (manifesto) would be implemented in a phased and time-bound manner.

In the previous Panchayat elections held in 2018, the BJP secured victories in 212 Zila Parishads, while its ally, the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), won in 19. Similarly, BJP candidates triumphed in 1,025 Anchalik Panchayat member constituencies, with AGP candidates winning in 118 seats by defeating opposition contenders.
