Kanpur: Three private buses stationed along GT Road in Krishna Nagar locality caught fire under mysterious conditions on Saturday night. Following alerts, several fire engines and police forces reached the location and successfully doused the flames after an hour-long operation. The incident led to traffic disruption.

A group of private buses were stationed near Krishna Nagar Gate, adjacent to the municipal corporation when one vehicle suddenly caught fire on Saturday night. The fire rapidly spread, consuming the bus and subsequently affecting two nearby parked buses. The flames created alarm among pedestrians. The blaze extended to a neighbouring plot, shed, and even a tree.

Police officials arrived and stopped traffic flow from PAC turn towards Ramadevi and redirected the vehicles to alternative routes, which resulted in traffic congestion. Subsequently, six fire tenders arrived and controlled the situation through sustained efforts. Station in-charge Santosh Kumar Shukla said that investigations are ongoing to establish the fire's origin.

"We are currently identifying the bus proprietors. The fire was successfully contained with no reported injuries or fatalities," he said further.
