The popular and beloved romantic comedy ’10 Things I Hate About You’ is getting a sequel! Yes, you read that right; the 1999 film starring the late actor Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles in the lead is going to be getting a sequel of its own in the coming months.
A new sequel for a beloved rom-com is on the wayIt was recently revealed by Director Gil Junger, who directed the original film as well, that a new project is underway. The sequel film titled ’10 Things I Hate About Dating’ is under works and will soon begin production, as per People. Not only that, but the new project will mark the beginning of a trilogy, ensuring that fans will have more than enough content to watch.
During his interview, the director who is working alongside Naya Elle James to write the final script of the film shared that “10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film. We’re developing it right now." While the project has not yet been officially finalised, the creators are optimistic and have also revealed that the storyline will be based off of Molière’s 1666 play, ‘The Misanthrope’.
'10 Things I Hate About…’ trilogy may come to lifeEven though the film has not yet been finalised, the director shared his hopes about a possible trilogy, with the next two films ‘10 Things I Hate About Marriage’ and ‘10 Things I Hate About Kids’. He shared that he, along with Naya Elle James and producer Andrew Lazar, have high hopes for the project and also have a couple of “good ideas” too.
A special tributeThe director, while talking about who will star in the film, shared that he would like to see old faces and work with them again. He said, “I would love to work with Julia again." Also, when during the interview he was asked if there was going to be some tribute to the late actor Ledger, he shared that “I think that’s a beautiful idea, and the answer is now going to be yes. He deserves to be loved."
