Kartik Aaryan shares his thoughts on rising remuneration of actors; admits doing a movie just for the money

In just over a decade, Kartik Aaryan has emerged as one of Bollywood's most bankable new stars. Initially, he was showered with affection from the comedy-drama crowd. He also gradually began playing prominent author-backed roles, which brought him praise from critics. Now, he is gearing up for the release of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, which is helmed by Anees Bazmee and features Triptii Dimri, Vidya Balan, and Madhuri Dixit.

In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Kartik addressed the debate about high salaries for movie stars. He explained that the film industry operates on a business model where everything is calculated. He highlighted that if various revenue streams, such as satellite, digital, and music rights, are generating profits for producers, then high salaries can be justified, especially if audiences are drawn to the actor.

The actor also explained why these discussions continue to happen. He shared that since people are not conducting these calculations, debates are occurring. The calculations are going off, leading to widespread dissatisfaction and, in fact, anger among the people. The actor hopes that his producers remain content and that he does not inadvertently cause any displeasure. He believes that his calculator functions effectively.

Kartik also opened up about a time in his career when he accepted a film primarily for financial reasons. He admitted that during the early stages of his career, he faced financial struggles and felt he had no other options. While he didn't specify which film it was, he expressed some regret about taking on that project for the money, highlighting the tough choices actors sometimes face when starting out.

On the work front, Kartik Aaryan is busy with the promotion of his upcoming film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’. It is all set to release in theatres this Diwali. It will be clashing with Rohit Shetty’s ‘Singham Again’ at the box office.
