Samantha Ruth Prabhu recently opened up about a deeply troubling phase in her life, calling it a year when “nothing was working” and she had “the worst possible thoughts.” Though she didn’t directly reference her 2021 divorce from Naga Chaitanya or her battle with Myositis, she hinted at a period where she felt utterly lost.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, Samantha said, “I remember once I actually went to the point where I thought like, 'enough, I can't do this anymore'. I had the worst possible thoughts. I obviously didn't have the courage to go ahead and do it.” Calling it a “never-ending abyss,” she shared how she pulled herself back from that edge. “I chickened out because you need to have lots of guts to act upon these thoughts. So I was like, 'I better find a way to build some kind of resilience’.”

Reflecting on the struggles, Samantha explained that it wasn’t success but failure that shaped her most. “Now, when people say they are going through a hard time, I actually tell them to go through it. There is always a lesson to learn... It is not my success that taught me a lesson, but my failures and hardships.”
For the unversed, Samantha and Naga Chaitanya ended their marriage in 2021. She was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition, Myositis, the following year. While Naga Chaitanya went on to marry Sobhita Dhulipala in December 2024, Samantha is currently single, though she is rumoured to be dating filmmaker Raj Nidimoru. Neither has commented on the speculation.
