When Saif Ali Khan realised lead actors always have a little extra to do after watching Shah Rukh Khan on the 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' set

Saif Ali Khan is currently basking in the success of his Tollywood movie ‘Devara: Part 1,’ starring Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor. He worked with Shah Rukh Khan in Nikkhil Advani's ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho,’ where he was the second lead in the 2003 film. He once revealed that SRK was responsible on set, as the lead actor always has a ‘little extra’ to do.

During an old chat with Film Companion, Saif recalled how supportive SRK was. In a candid reflection on his experiences during the filming of ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho,’ Saif shared insights into the responsibilities of a lead actor. He emphasised the importance of going above and beyond in their role, particularly in supporting production efforts.

Working closely with Shah Rukh, Saif gained a deeper understanding of the commitment and demeanor required to succeed in a lead role, highlighting the collaborative spirit necessary in filmmaking. “I was working very closely with Shah Rukh Khan, and I kind of got an idea of what a main lead has to do—a little extra,” he added. Saif recalled how SRK arrived on set embodying the responsibilities of a superstar. He noted that the entire cast and crew admired how Shah Rukh shouldered the weight of Nikkhil Advani's direction, often stepping in to resolve production issues and other challenges that arose.

Mahima Chaudhry previously shared her thoughts on Shah Rukh's remarkable aura, recalling her own experience working with him in Subhash Ghai's ‘Pardes.’ Mahima revealed that the cast and crew eagerly awaited his arrival on set for 20 days. When he finally made his entrance, everyone gathered around him, showcasing their admiration and excitement. Mahima affectionately referred to Shah Rukh as a "workshop," highlighting his immense talent and the wealth of knowledge he brings to the filmmaking process.


‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’ also starred Preity Zinta, Jaya Bachchan, Sonali Bendre, Rajpal Yadav, Sushma Seth, and Reema Lagoo.
