Although fans know Adam Pearce as the formidable on-screen general manager of WWE Raw , this role wasn’t the first he had after his 2013 return to the promotion. In December of 2013, Pearce was brought in as a guest coach, a role he had for a year, before he was officially promoted full-time as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center , and also a producer for NXT .
In a recent interview for the "Chaotic Good Sports," Pearce looked back at his coaching days, and relays his respect for all performance coaches and the amount of hard work that goes into preparing for the ring.
Adam Pearce returned to WWE as a guest coach
Speaking with host Tom Grossi, Pearce reflected on his time working at the WWE Performance Center as a coach. "There's just so much that's packed in that the general public doesn't know or see these students doing at NXT. It is unbelievable. I wish something like that existed to that level when I was first breaking. Of course it didn't exist anywhere in the world, that's why WWE is at the forefront as always.”
Pearce then went on to reveal that he did have a tryout for a coaching role at WWE in 2012, which eventually led him to bag the job at the Performance Center three years later. He admitted that he wanted to close his wrestling era when he realized that his wrestling days are coming to an end. This is the reason why he didn't regret his retirement match against Colt Cabana. "Looking back, it was perfect. I wanted to lose, I wanted to go out on my back. Cabana was the perfect opponent for that and I did the honors for him that night and I appreciated it and we had many cocktails later that night," stated Pearce.
On October 13, 2023 at the season premiere episode of SmackDown, WWE creative head Triple H officially promoted Pearce to be the General Manager of the Raw brand, a role he currently serves in.
