As it is known, the legendary John Cena is set to embark on his highly anticipated retirement tour next year, and it seems like every wrestler under the sun wants a piece of the action. One name that’s standing out is Grayson Waller , a rising star who’s been making waves in WWE with his undeniable charisma and in-ring prowess.

“You go against John Cena; you show that you belong”: Grayson Waller says a match against John Cena would bring major recognition


Grayson Waller’s recent expression of a desire to face off against 16-time WWE World Champion, John Cena during his upcoming retirement tour is creating all the buzz. The wrestling legend announced plans for this tour in 2025, during which he will make more than 30 appearances. Since the announcement, many WWE superstars have come forward, eager to share the ring with Cena.

One amongst them is the former WWE Tag Team Champion , Grayson Waller. In a recent interview with Wide World of Sports , Waller admitted that he had unfinished business with Cena. The duo engaged in a bout at Money in the Bank 2023. He referred to Cena as “the measuring stick” of professional wrestling, stating that going up against him is a rite of passage for many wrestlers,

“I’ve had the opportunity to be in there with him on the microphone, but I've never had the opportunity to be tested by him in the ring. And I think that's what Cena does: test people. He's a measuring stick. You go against John Cena; you show that you belong. So many guys have gone in there and afterwards gone on to big things because they passed the test. And I want the hottest test, and I think that is it.”

He maintained that competing with Cena is essential for any wrestler who wants to demonstrate their skills and establish themselves in the industry. Many wrestlers have experience a career boost and Waller is determined to do whatever it takes to secure a match against Cena before he officially retires. Speaking on the subject, he said,

“If he's only here for one more year, I'm gonna say whatever I have to say to make that happen. I'm gonna say the meanest things possible. And I already know I have his attention, and I think it's time to double down and really show that I'm the kinda guy that you put in against Cena at the end.”

As Cena’s Retirement Tour approaches, fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on this potential showdown especially as Waller continues to prove himself against one of the wrestling world’s biggest names.
