Former England player Michael Vaughan has suggested Virat Kohli should captain India for the upcoming Test series against England, with Shubman Gill as vice-captain, following Rohit Sharma's retirement from Test cricket. Meanwhile, as TimesofIndia.com had reported, Kohli has also expressed his intention to retire from Test cricket, though BCCI officials have asked him to reconsider.
Vaughan shared his views on social media platform X on Sunday, advocating for Kohli's leadership in the England tour.

"If I was India I would give the captaincy to Virat for the Test series in England .. Shubman Gill can be his VC for the tour," Vaughan posted.
Kohli's inclination to retire follows Rohit Sharma's recent Test retirement announcement. The selectors are scheduled to meet soon to select the team for the five-Test series in England next month.
Reports suggest Kohli has been considering his Test future since the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia earlier this year, where he struggled after scoring a century in the first Test.
TimesofIndia.com had also reported that Gill was the leading candidate to captain the men's Test team following Rohit's retirement.
The senior selection committee, led by former India all-rounder Ajit Agarkar, believes 25-year-old Gill is the ideal choice for Test captaincy keeping the team's demands and future aspirations in mind.
