Mohamed Salah and Alessia Russo shine bright with FWA Footballer of the Year honors

Mohamed Salah from Liverpool and Alessia Russo from Arsenal were given the FWA Footballer of the Year awards at a special event in London. They played amazingly in the 2024-25 season. Salah's goals helped Liverpool win the Premier League , and Russo’s skills boosted Arsenal. Fans love their star players.

Salah won the men's award for the third time, matching Arsenal's Thierry Henry. He got 90 percent of the votes from over 900 FWA members, the biggest win this century. Salah scored 33 goals and made 23 assists, helping Liverpool win the Premier League.


Russo was chosen for the women’s award after scoring 12 goals in the Women’s Super League and seven goals in the Champions League which helped Arsenal to the Champions League final. Salah said, “It means a lot to win this award,” and thanked his team. Russo also said her teammates helped her win. Liverpool legend Ian Rush gave Salah his award, making it special. The event was a big celebration of their outstanding work in the field.

Salah eyes historic Premier League recordMohamed Salah is close to breaking a Premier League record. He has 28 goals and 18 assists in 37 games. He needs two more goal contributions against Crystal Palace to beat the 47-goal record by Andy Cole and Alan Shearer. Salah netted seven goals in the Champions League and three more in the EFL Cup, helping Liverpool get to the final. Fans were happy when they learned he signed a deal until 2027.


He said, “I hope I can be here again next season” and wants more titles. Salah got his award from Ian Rush, who scored 346 goals for Liverpool. Salah joked, “I said to this guy ‘were you playing football when it was five against five!’” about Rush’s record. He thinks Rush’s record will stay forever. Russo left early to get ready for Arsenal’s Champions League final against Barcelona. Both players work hard and want to win more trophies in the future.
