In the wake of upcoming by-elections in four assembly seats in Bihar, the state government has declared November 13 a holiday for its employees. These by-elections will be held in Ramgarh, Tarari, Belaganj and Imamganj assembly seats.
The General Administration Department has issued an order declaring that all the state government offices, undertaking organizations, corporations, boards, statutory and local bodies, and educational institutions will remain closed on November 13 so that people can exercise their voting rights.
All four assembly seats fell vacant after the MLAs representing the constituencies were elected as MPs in this year's Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP has already announced its candidates for Tarari and Ramgarh, nominating Vishal Prashant and Ashok Singh, respectively.
RJD has fielded Sudhakar Singh’ brother, Ajit Kumar Singh from the Ramgarh seat and in Belaganj, Vishwanath Kumar Singh will be making his electoral debut. Raushan Kumar Manjhi alias Rajesh Manjhi, a former member of the Gaya Zila Parishad, has been selected to contest from the Imamganj assembly seat by RJD.
The JD(U) has allotted the Belaganj ticket to Manorama Devi, a former party MLC.
CPI-ML has nominated Raju Yadav from Tarari, a seat it currently holds.
The by-election results will be declared on November 23.
