Shooter held in Panipat in 6th arrest in Salman case

NAVI MUMBAI: Navi Mumbai police Wednesday arrested a suspected shooter from Panipat , Haryana, who was allegedly hired by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to kill actor Salman Khan on the way to or at his Panvel farmhouse , said DCP (crime) Amit Kale, reports George Mendonca. This is the sixth arrest in this case.

Nitin Thakare, senior inspector, Panvel city police, said Sukhbir Singh alias Sukha (34) was arrested in coordination with Haryana Police. "Using technical expertise, Sukha's location was tracked to Panipat. Our police team of one inspector and three constables reached Panipat by train and apprehended Sukha from a hotel. He was produced before a Panipat court on Thursday and his transit remand till Oct 19 was obtained. He is being brought to Navi Mumbai and will be produced before a Panvel court for his police custody remand."

Thakare said Sukha has claimed that he was hired as a shooter by Bishnoi to kill Khan, and that 10-12 gang members were recruited to conduct a reconnaissance of his farmhouse. Sukha also reportedly said that two gang members had stayed on rent at a village in Panvel taluka near the farmhouse since Feb. The plot to target Khan at his farmhouse was allegedly hatched a month before his Bandra residence was targeted by two men on a motorcycle on April 14.
