Mary Trump , the estranged niece of former President Donald Trump labelled her her uncle Donald a "McIdiot" following the former president's visit to a McDonald’s in suburban Philadelphia, where he donned an apron and cooked fries. Sharing a video of Trump watching a cook at McDonald's making fries, Mary Trump alleged that the former president avoids such work because it is "incredibly hard work."
"Working at a fast food restaurant is incredibly hard work—which is why Donald still isn’t doing it. #McIdiot," she said in a post on X.

Trump served fries and engaged in an impromptu news conference through the drive-thru window. “It requires great expertise, actually, to do it right and to do it fast,” Trump said, amazed he didn’t have to touch the fries directly.
His visit aimed to counter Democratic nominee Kamala Harris ’s claims about her past job at McDonald's. While Trump dismissed her experience as fabricated, saying she “lied about working there.”
Trump’s McDonald's appearance drew a large crowd and police presence, turning the event into a spectacle. “Wasn’t that a strange place to do a news conference?” he quipped, still wearing his apron as he took questions.
Earlier, Mary Trump has accused her uncle of undermining democracy and selling influence, particularly in relation to his ties with figures like Elon Musk. She has described him as a “despicable narcissist” and frequently expresses concern over his pursuit of power.
The contrast between Trump’s light-hearted McDonald’s visit and the serious issues at play in the election has not gone unnoticed. Critics, including Mary Trump, argue that his antics trivialise the hard work of everyday Americans, particularly those in demanding jobs like fast-food service.
As the election nears, both candidates are focused on securing votes in crucial states. With the political landscape tight, the stakes are high for both sides, making every public appearance significant.
