Elon Musk 's exit from the White House comes after significant drama that even included changing President Donald Trump's schedule to appease the Tesla CEO during their Middle East official trip as Musk was enraged over a deal that Trump was going to announce with Sam Altman. A Wall Street Journal report said Trump was supposed tp speak about the deal on the trip along with Altman and other officials but the announcement was pushed back to calm Musk. Elon was so enraged that he complained to at least three White House officials and finally Trump had to get involved.
Since then, Altman was not seen with Trump publicly either.
What was the AI deal?
WSJ earlier reported that Trump was about to announce a huge AI partnership with OpenAI and UAE's G42 company to build a Stargate UAS campus in Abu Dhabi. The operation would also include America’s Oracle, Nvidia, and Cisco, and Japan’s SoftBank as part of the UAE’s push to become a major AI player. Elon Musk was determined to include his xAI to be part of it and rushed to the Middle East to block the announcement. He also reached out to G42, controlled by the brother of the UAE's president and pressured them to not get into any collaboration where Musk's AI company is not there.
It was not known whether Musk was included or some kind of accommodation was made for him, but the announcement was not made.
'Was it all bulls**t?' Trump asked aides about Elon Musk
The WSJ report said that Trump reportedly asked an "evocative" question to his advisers about Elon Musk's promise to cut $1 trillion in government spending. "Was it all bulls**t?" the president asked about DOGE promises. Trump, however, does not hold any grudge against Elon Musk and meets him over dinner frequently. He described Musk as 50 percent genius, 50 per cent boy, though some advisers dispute the percentage and claimed it's 90 per cent genius and 10 per cent boy.
