Woman shot at outside CIA headquarters in Virginia

A woman was shot at by security guards outside the CIA headquarters in Virginia early Thursday morning, according to US media reports.

The incident, described by the CIA as a “security incident,” occurred near the agency’s main gate, which was subsequently closed. Employees were advised to take alternate routes, according to a CIA spokesperson.

However, according to news agency Reuters, the CIA has declined to say whether the suspect was hit by gunfire. The US intelligence agency has claimed that personnel engaged the person outside the gates before taken into custody.

The shooting was nonfatal, and no further details about the suspect have been released.

Fairfax County police said officers were dispatched around 4 am to the 900 block of Dolley Madison Boulevard in McLean to assist CIA police with traffic control following the incident.

Police confirmed on Thursday that their officers are continuing to provide traffic support in the area.

This comes hours after two staff members from the Israeli embassy were shot and killed near the Jewish Museum in Washington DC on Wednesday (local time).

The suspect, identified as Elias Rodriguez, 30, of Chicago, allegedly opened fire on Wednesday evening near the Capital Jewish Museum, where the victims, a man and a woman, had just attended an event.

They were among a group of four people when the suspect reportedly approached and began shooting.

At a press briefing, Washington, DC, police chief Pamela Smith said the suspect had been seen pacing outside the museum prior to the attack. He was subdued and detained by event security shortly after the incident.
