Udaipur, April 24 In a significant move, the Rajasthan Government has promoted 756 serving pharmacists to Pharmacist First Grade positions based on recommendations from the Departmental Promotion Committee. The long-awaited postings, delayed due to court proceedings and departmental processes, have finally been implemented, bringing much-needed relief and celebration across the state’s health workforce.
Pharmacist Community Rejoices After Long DelayAccording to Vijendra Singh Rathore, Senior State Vice President and District President of the Rajasthan Pharmacist Employees Association, pharmacists had been awaiting posting orders since January last year. Despite receiving promotion orders early, the matter was stuck in legal proceedings, causing a delay of nearly 15 months.
Now that the Directorate has issued the final posting orders, pharmacists promoted to First Grade can assume their new roles with greater responsibilities, improved pay scales, and enhanced decision-making authority in patient care.
Impact on Healthcare ServicesThe promotion affects 728 pharmacists from non-scheduled areas and 28 from scheduled areas, totalling 756 pharmacists. These newly posted professionals will now fill the vacant First Grade positions, streamlining the workforce structure within the Rajasthan Health Department. The promotions are expected to enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
“With increased autonomy and status, pharmacists will now be in a better position to serve patients effectively,” said Rathore, underlining how this move will strengthen the pharmacist’s role within the public health infrastructure.
Association’s Role in AdvocacyThe Rajasthan Pharmacist Employees Association played a key role in bringing attention to the issue. Through sustained advocacy and dialogue with the administration, the association ensured that the matter was prioritised and resolved. Rathore lauded the Department of Medical and Health Services for finally addressing the pending file and taking decisive action.
He also noted that the vacant posts left behind by the promoted pharmacists will now pave the way for new recruitments, a move that will further boost healthcare access across Rajasthan.
Government Applauded for the DecisionThe pharmacist community across Rajasthan, particularly in Udaipur, welcomed the state government’s move. In a show of appreciation, newly posted First Grade pharmacists expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, and the Health Directorate for making the long-overdue decision a reality.
