Treat Pak and B'desh equally while addressing security concerns: Pradyot to Centre

Agartala: TIPRA Motha founder Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Friday called upon the Centre to maintain consistent standards while addressing security concerns from both Pakistan and Bangladesh.

"I fully support the Government of India's firm stance against Pakistan. But the same tone of seriousness must be shown when similar incidents or threats emerge from our eastern border. A life lost in east India is no less valuable than one lost in the north or west. We, too, are proud Indians," said Pradyot.

He highlighted recent developments in Bangladesh, including reports of an ISI general's visit and the establishment of a Chinese air base in North Bengal. He expressed concern over statements by Mohammad Yunus from Bangladesh's interim govt.

"Tripura, given its location, is especially vulnerable. The areas of Cox's Bazar, Bandarban, and Chittagong — once part of Tripura — now see actions that threaten regional peace and our historical ties," Pradyot said.

He stressed the importance of collective awareness, stating, "We must question why our people were displaced from their land, and who truly considers us a threat. The Government of India must treat Pakistan and Bangladesh on equal terms when it comes to matters of national security."

Supporting the Centre's actions following the Pahalgam terror incident, he said, "Pakistan and Bangladesh may attempt to surround India from the west and east. The Centre must be equally vigilant. Just because Delhi is geographically closer to Pakistan doesn't mean the concerns of people in the East are any less significant."
